Citizens' Academy – Now Accepting Applications
The 2010 Citizens’ Academy is an interactive program focused on informing citizens about the City’s governmental process. Elected officials, City administration and divisions heads, along with other City staff, will host unique and informative sessions on City government operations.
The primary goal of 2010 Citizens’ Academy is to provide:
The City of Anderson’s 2010 Citizens’ Academy is an eight (8) week course developed to inform residents about the City government process and the public services it provides. Sessions are once a week from 5:30 pm – 8 pm.
Applicants to the program must be City of Anderson residents or property owners, age 18 or older, and make a personal commitment to the 8 week series of information sessions. Class size is limited to eighteen (18) participants.
Curriculum is currently being developed for sessions to begin in April, 2010.

Third Annual Mayor's MLK Breakfast
The City of Anderson will celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with the third annual Mayor's MLK Breakfast at 9:30 a.m., Friday, January 15, at the Civic Center of Anderson. The Mayor and City Council along with Duke Energy and Anderson County, will host the MLK Breakfast. The theme is "Embracing the spirit of Dr. King's dream. What does it that mean today"?
Keynote speaker Cardell Cooper, Executive Director of the National Community Development Association (NCDA), will share the best way to assist local governments in achieving high-quality, locally responsive programs for making communities better places to live and work. Special guest Bakari Sellers' will share his inspirational journey to become the youngest State Representative in the United States. He represents District 90 (Bamberg, Barnwell and Orangeburg County) in the South Carolina General Assembly. Sellers, whose family made history during the civil right movement has built upon his family legacy by engaging not in politics, but public service. Mayor Terence Roberts will present the Community Trailblazer award to an individual who emulates the spirit of Dr. King by contributing to the quality of life in the Anderson community.

Community Movie Program
The City and CGI Communications, Inc. have entered into a partnership to showcase the Anderson community by adding video messages to the City's web site. The six one-minute streaming video segments include a welcome, arts & entertainment, city services, quality of life, and recreation & things to do. View the completed videos.
