Birthday Party Rentals
Anderson Recreation Center – 22 acres, 1107 North Murray Avenue

This Recreation Center was completed in 2006 and includes 32,000 square feet of space. Within the Center itself there are two gymnasiums, several multi-purpose rooms available for rental, an indoor walking track (1/10 of a mile) and a fitness mezzanine that houses cardio equipment such as: treadmills, elliptical trainers, bicycles, weight stations and recumbent bikes. The grounds have 3 baseball/softball fields and one large multi-purpose field. There is a large play structure and swing set behind the Recreation Center building that provides activity for children up to 12 years of age.
- Monday-Thursday – 6 a.m.-9:30 p.m.
- Friday – 6 a.m.-8 p.m.
- Saturday – 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Sunday – 2 p.m.-6 p.m.
Memberships: The fee includes use of the fitness area, walking track, and basketball gymnasium. A family membership includes spouse and dependent children who are claimed on the main member's income tax return or insurance. A child under the age of 9 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Amenities
The $5.2 million facility consists of 32,000 square feet of building space with two gymnasiums on the first floor, and a cardio/weight area and jogging track on the second level. Specific features of the building include:
- Two completely separate gymnasiums
- Four half courts, 12 basketball goals and four volleyball courts, all with wood flooring
- Cardio-equipment including treadmills, elliptical trainers, upright bikes and recumbent bikes
- Weight station to work specific body parts
- ADA accessible
- Conference rooms and multi-purpose rooms for leisure programs and rental use
The construction of this facility was funded through Hospitality Fee collections.
In-Kind Policy
The City of Anderson Parks and Recreation Department has an in-kind service fee policy for youth unable to pay facility membership fees. The individual must perform in-kind work for the Recreation Department in exchange for facility membership.
Facility Rentals
- Conference Room – $20 per hour
- Multi-Purpose Rooms
- $25 per hour/small rooms ($45 per hour after normal business hours)
- $50 per hour/large room ($70 per hour after normal business hours)
- Gymnasiums
- Athletic Use – $50 per hour/$170 for four hours for athletic events
- Regular Rentals – $500 to $850 per day with admission, floor covering, tables and chairs
- Rental fee for half of gym – $350 plus $50 floor covering, chairs & table, and kitchen $50 with seating for 115
- A clean-up fee will be charged for all events that involve catering or food of any kind. This fee will be assessed based on the area of the building used. Starting from $50-$75

Directions to the Jim Ed Rice Center from City Hall:
Take Fant Street to River Street. Take a left at the traffic light onto River Street. Go to the first traffic light on River Street and take a left. Building is on the right as you are going down the hill.

- D.B. Walker Park – Jefferson Avenue and Quarry Street, one picnic shelter, three basketball courts, play equipment, no restroom
- Greeley Park – South Fant Street, one picnic shelter, play equipment, basketball court, no restroom
- Linley Park – North Murray Ave./North Avenue, two picnic shelters, restroom, two baseball Fields, play equipment
- Westside Community Center Park – Franklin Street, picnic shelter, walking track, no restroom, play equipment
