Memberships: The fee includes use of the fitness area, walking track, and basketball gymnasium. A family membership includes spouse and dependent children who are claimed on the main member's income tax return or insurance. A child under the age of 9 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Membership Plus: For an additional annual fee, you may enjoy the use of our swim centers during Open Swim. The outdoor Splash Zone for children 10 and under is also included. The additional cost would be:

The $5.2 million facility consists of 32,000 square feet of building space with two gymnasiums on the first floor, and a cardio/weight area and jogging track on the second level. Specific features of the building include:

In-Kind Policy
The City of Anderson Parks and Recreation Department has an in-kind service fee policy for youth unable to pay facility membership fees. The individual must perform in-kind work for the Recreation Department in exchange for facility membership.

Directions to the Jim Ed Rice Center from City Hall:
Take Fant Street to River Street. Take a left at the traffic light onto River Street. Go to the first traffic light on River Street and take a left. Building is on the right as you are going down the hill.

Picnic shelters can be reserved for $35. Darwin Wright Park has two shelters that can be reserved for $35 each. To make reservations, call (864) 231-2232.
Swim Centers
Sheppard Swim Center and Hudgens Swim Center have been jointly operated by the City of Anderson and Anderson School District Five for the benefit and enjoyment of the community since 1975. Each center features a 25-meter swimming pool, separate pool with diving boards, a wading pool/sun deck area, and game, snack, and meeting rooms. You are invited to enjoy the recreational swim hours and to try the outstanding aquatic programs for people of all ages and abilities.
