SPECIAL EVENTS

The City is sponsoring movie nights downtown in Carolina Wren Park, 111 E. Whitner Street. There is no charge to attend and coolers (no alcohol, no glass containers) are welcome. Pack some snacks and come join the fun. Concessions will be available.

Electric City Bowl
The Electric City Bowl is an annual game day event to showcase the City of Anderson youth football teams. It is more than just football; there is also fun, food, music, and excitement for all. This event is held on a Saturday between mid-September and mid-October.

All football players and cheerleaders are allowed to have an escort to walk with them during the introduction of the Electric City Bowl Court at half-time of each game. After all of the introductions, the King and Queen are selected by a random draw.

City of Anderson Christmas Parade
The City of Anderson Christmas Parade is held annually on the first Sunday in December at 3 p.m. The only exception to this is when the first Sunday falls during the Thanksgiving week-end. When this occurs, it will be held on the second Sunday in December. It will take place rain or shine. There will be no rescheduled date in the event of cancellation.

A limited number of entries are accepted through a pre-determined deadline in November. Entry forms are available beginning in mid-September each year. The parade route is on Main Street from the intersection of Greenville Street through downtown to the intersection of River Street.

Hall of Fame Banquet
The Anderson Recreation Department Hall of Fame was established in the fal of 2008. Its purpose is to recognize those individuals and businesses who have brought distinction, honor, and excellence to the Anderson Recreation Department. The inductees are announced at a banquet held every other year. The current volunteer coaches are also recognized during this dinner.

Nominations are accepted from the public until June 15 of all odd-numbered years. The forms and criteria for consideration are available online or at the Anderson Recreation Center office.
