The City of Anderson / Electric City Utilities advises all customers on the water system to boil water for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or making ice in response to potential contamination. The City of Anderson Water System was performing routine maintenance on our Orr St. Tank. It was washed out with chlorinated water. The tank was segregated from the system awaiting the results of acceptable samples. Unfortunately, approximately 150,000 gallons of water was inadvertently released into the system before our samples came back. We anticipate the samples will give clearance to put the tank back online tomorrow October 20, 2021. Until we get the results of the samples please boil your water vigorously before consumption as a precaution. This Advisory is precautionary, and as stated previously, we have taken samples and will resend the Boil Water Advisory when the samples come back acceptable. Please monitor media outlets for future updates. Updates will also be available at the City’s website, or by calling the Electric City Utilities Water Operations Department at (864) 231-5230.
