Smoke Alarm Safety Class Workshop Anderson County Library - Room B & C Wednesday, December 4, 2024 - 1:00pm The City of Anderson, Community Housing Resource Board along with the City of Anderson Fire Department will be hosting a Smoke Alarm/ Carbon Monoxide Safety Class-Workshop. During this time of year when the weather turns cold people usually will find ways of keeping their homes warmer thru using alternative heat. Using space heaters, kerosene heaters, and electric heaters which can cause home fires is a great reason to attend an Alarm safety class. Carbon Monoxide poisoning due to people not understanding the warning signs of a defaulted system can be very detrimental. These incidents can be avoidable if we knew how and when the equipment is not functioning properly. The Fire Marshall will show us safety tips on choosing the best smoke alarms for your home, on installing the smoke alarm, testing the smoke alarm. He will also give us tips on Carbon Monoxide Safety, Electric Portable Space Heater Safety, the proper place to run a Generator, the importance of having a fire extinguisher in the home, and more. To be sure that smoke alarms are properly installed we will be taking names and addresses of anyone who attends the class and is interested in having a smoke alarm installed in their home. The fire department staff will then set a date and time for each household to have smoke alarms installed at the homeowner's convenience.
