Anderson Municipal Court

  • Anderson City Court has Judges available 24 hours a day to issues arrest warrants and search warrants for crimes committed in the City of Anderson.
  • Bond court is held at 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily for Judges to set bond for individuals arrested in the City of Anderson.
  • Court is held four days a week to dispose of cases made by City Police, Building & Codes, and the Fire Department.. Traffic court is at 9:00 a.m. Criminal court is at 10:00 a.m.
  • Preliminary hearings for General Sessions Court and jury trials are scheduled on a monthly basis.

PROHIBITED ITEMS                                                                                    

Food, drink, and all weapons are strictly prohibited from the building.  Do not attempt to bring in any prohibited items. Leave these items at home or in your car.  The court will not store prohibited items in the lobby for pick-up.

COURT APPEARANCE ATTIRE

Municipal Court is a place of business and visitors should wear clean, fitted clothes.  A shirt and shoes are required.  Please take your hat off before entering any courtroom. Unacceptable Attire includes:

  • Shorts, cut-offs, baggy pants, flip-flop style shoes or hats.
  • Muscle shirts, T-shirts clothing indicating gang affiliation, vulgar, racist, sexist, obscene, suggestive words, slogans, depictions, or pictures.
  • Shirts that are torn, dirty or ragged.
  • Provocative clothing designed, styled, or worn to provoke emotion or disrupt or distract.

RESPECT FOR THE COURT

Please observe the following guidelines when you are in the courtroom:

  • Arrive early and be prepared.
  • Turn off pagers and cell phones before entering the courtroom.
  • Gum chewing, tobacco or newspapers are not allowed.
  • If you bring children, have someone with you who can take the child out if he/she becomes loud or disruptive.
  • When your case is called, go to the podium.
  • Address the Judge as “Your Honor”.
  • Speak only when instructed or given permission.
  • When you answer questions be brief and to the point.
  • Do not interrupt.
  • Do not argue with the Judge.
  • Use formal language – not slang.
  • Do not approach the judge’s bench without permission.
  • Do not enter or exit the courtroom excessively or slam doors.
  • Be patient.

Fines can be paid online, by mail, or in person.

If paying by mail, please send a money order or cashier’s check. No personal checks will be accepted.

In-person payments can be made through our Municipal Business Center located at 601 South Main Street. Payments can be made in the form of credit/debit cards, cashier’s check or money order, or cash. 

If paying by credit/debit card, an ID must be presented to verify the name on the card.

A fee will be applied to all debit/credit card transactions. No personal checks will be accepted.
