In March, 2011, I was appointed by Chief Horne as the departments first public information officer (PIO). The PIO is responsible for delivering news and information to the public, stakeholders and various media outlets through press releases and education.

I have been involved in the fire service since 1997. I started in the Anderson County volunteer fire system at Cheddar Fire Department in Belton. At 16, I started getting the classes needed to be a certified interior firefighter. After graduating high school and Tri-County Technical College, I began looking for a career in the fire service. In February, 2003, I was hired at the City of Anderson Fire Department as a firefighter. In June 2008, I was promoted to engineer/driver. In 2011, I was promoted to sergeant and in 2012 was promoted to lieutenant.

I’m now a company officer riding on one of the engines in the city. Through the years at the AFD I have been involved in various teams and specialties. I am a member of the Anderson Rescue team and Upstate Incident Management team type III and have been trained in operations, liaison and public information. I am also on the SOG committee and help develop our department’s procedures and guidelines.
